Notify your insurance broker promptly and follow their instructions.
Keep an accurate record of what has been said and done. e.g. Notes of important telephone calls indicating the date and the name of the individual contacted.
Make reports promptly. Include incidents that could result in a claim.
In the case of an auto claim, if the other party admits fault try to get the statement in writing and signed by the other party.
Follow the insurance adjuster's instructions.
Don't try to be your own claims adjuster.
Don't admit liability.
Don't say you or your insurance company will take care of the matter.
Don't negotiate with a claimant.
Don't reply to correspondence from claimants. Acknowledge receipt of the letter and pass it on to the insurance adjuster.
